 if theyre on the same plane and theyre not touching eachother they could be parallel. but even if 2 lines on a planes arent touching eachother they might not be parallel. skew lines are coplanar lines that do not touch but are not parallel. to be a parallel line, 2 lines cannot be touching eachother and cannot intersect.
