The multiplicative inverse of any number is simply its reciprocal. A reciprocal is just the fraction of any number flipped. The reciprocal of 12 is 1/12 (one divided by 12) and the reciprocal or multiplicative inverse of -0.7 is 1/-0.7 (one divided by -0.7). Another way of saying it is that a number multiplied by its multiplicative inverse equals one. Example: (-0.7)(1/-0.7) = 1.
