If you're trying to find the value of x and y  all you have to do is add (-4x-2y=-12) + (4x+8y=-24) and you get 6y=-36 you divide by 6 on both sides and y=-6Then you plug in -6 for y in any of the two equations in this case 4x+8(-6)=-24 -> 4x-48=-24 -> 4x=24 -> x=6

I used elimination. x=6 and y= -6First set up: (-4x-2y=-12) + (4x+8y=-24)then eliminate 4x cuz -4x+4x=0Next, add up -2y+8y and -12+(-24) to get 6y=-36. solve for y. y= -6Finally, plug in -6 in either equation and solve for x. x=6

simplest way is to add both equations . 4x and -4x will get cancelled out and you will have 6y=-36 so Y will be -6 Now substite value of Y in the equation and you will have value of X
