there's only one variable in the equation and that is b, the first step you should do is to put the same variable together. it is the best to always keep the variable u r solving for a positive number, in this case, subtract 0.5b from 12.5b, u get 12b on the right. then you subtract 88 from 4, you get negative 84 or -84. it's okay for u to keep a number negative as long as the variable u r solving for is positive. then, divides 12 from -84, u get negative 7 or -7.
