x(240-x)x(240-x)=AreaPlug this equation into your graphing calculator and find the max of the function that will appear. That number will be your x value. so plug it into the eqaution and solve

A = x(240-x) A = 240x - x²  Now either observe the function on your graphing calculator to find the maximum area (y value)  or in Calculus you can find the value of x where the 1st derivative is zero and the second derivative is negative (always for this!).
