Are either of these  prime?: 28x^2+38x-6; 2x^2-4x+xz-2z

In factoring the above problems, I would like to know if either have a prime polynomial.

To be prime, they can not be factored; ie only way to get the polynomial would be to multiply 1 and itself to get it. The first polynomial you have listed is NOT PRIME because I can see that each coefficient has a factor of 2.  As soon as I can get another fact other than 1 and itself, it is NOT PRIME.
