The best to start solve an equation for graphing, is to find the y-intercept and x-intercept. to do so you have to give the value zero to x and resolve the equation and then give the y and solve the equation:x=0 => y=0-4 => y=-4 => x-intercept (0,-4)y=0 => 0=x-4 =>x=4 => y-intercept (4,0) now you can plot these two points on the plane and run a line through them.hope it helps,Kamel

y-int: y=0-4       y=-4 slope is 1

The y-intercept is -4 and the slope is 1, so go to (0,-4), and then keep going up and over 1 to graph your line.

the question you posted is in slope intercept form which is; y = mx+b. m=slope, and b= y intercept. here, you have b or y intercept = -4. so, in a form of coordinate it is (0,-4) plot it. moving on, as we know slope = rise / run. now, you have your slope = 1 in the equation. which also means its 1/1. so you rise from the coordinate you plot earlier (0,-4) one step but dont mark a point.  instead, run to your right one and mark a point, and from this point go up one and right one ; mark. keep going. and draw a line.
