a rectangular sheet of cardboard 14 inches wide and 25 inches long has square sections (x)inches by (x) inches removed from each of the four corners. The sides are then folded up to form a box of volume V.

my first question is: algebraic representation of this box is given by:
A. V=(25-2x) (14-x) x
B. V=(25-2x) (14-2x)
C. V=(25-2x) (14-2x) x
D. V=(25-x) (14-x) x

My Second Question is:
A solution to the system of equations using the volume equation from my last question(below) and V= 124 cubic inches is:
A. x = 7 in.
B. x = 2.88 in.
C. x = 6.21 in.
D. x = 8.47 in.

The volume of a rectangular box is the length times the width times the height. The height will be the same length as the squares cut from the corners. The width and the length of the box both are two of those square lengths cut from the dimensions. The volume = (25-2x) (14-2x) x If V = 124, then 124 = (25-2x)(14-2x)(x) Since this is multiple choice, you can save time by just plugging in all four choices for x into the expression on the right side of the equation. At worst, it will take you four tries.
