yes, you can combine the x's and y's 1) -3x+5x+4y=2x+4y 2) 2x+4y=2x+4y which is the same as 1=1 or 0=0 or 15=15.

you can only combine the like terms (the ones that are the same) as in the x's and the y's. good luck with algebra, jorge!!
