To find the length of the altitude if you're given the lengths of the sides that it's cutting you find the geometri mean of the two numbers, 22 and 4. 22/x = x/4    Cross multiply   88 =  x^2 Get the square root of each side of the equation to make the x^2 equal to x. sqrt(88) = sqrt(x^2)   sqrt(88) = x   2 * sqrt (22) = x ( altitude)
