First of all, I'm not in Algebra II. But I think I can solve this.   Let x=first positive real number    7-x=second positive real number (since the sum is 7) x(7-x)=11 7x-x squared=11 -x squared + 7x - 11 = 0 -(x squared - 7x + 11) = 0 -(x -   )(x -   ) = 0     Hmm... it doesn't look like this will work. So, I'll have to go with "no solution". Remember, I'm not in Algebra II, and I've just gotten through quadratic equations in Algebra I. I may very well be wrong. Good luck!

this is algebra 1, not algebra 2. just so you know. one number is 2.38 and the other is 4.62. 2.38 + 4.62 = 7 2.38 * 4.62 = 11

That's great a_s_h_l_e_e! By the way, can you show us your work? I'm interested in finding out how to solve this problem.
