You're interested in finding the x values that will make this expression = 0 right?  If so then what you have to do in the case of a quadratic is find two values of x that will give this result.  Since you have a 1 coefficient on the x^2 term what you want to do is find two numbers that when summed will give -3 coefficient on the x term and when multiplied together will give -28.  In this case -7 and 4 would be the numbers so the factors are (x-7)(x+4).  Solving would give x = 7 and -4
