why did you not fator 10xsquared+23xy-5ysquared....in the form of a trinomial ax+bx+c and then do grouping to come up with an answer....i find it easier. thank you

Do you mean turning 10x^2 + 23xy - 5y^2 into 10x^2 + 23x - 5 and factoring that first? If that's not right, could you demonstrate your method?
