I have a question about this problem. I know how to get the rest of the angles but I didn't fully understand the linear pair part. Wouldn't the angle right to x also be part of the linear pair?

I hope I'm addressing the right angle here. You mean the angle just right of x, not the 70 degrees angle? Well, that angle is cut by another transversal, so the angle measures may not necessarily be complimentary (adding up to 180 degrees). If the problem stated that the two lines were parallel, then yes, x would be part of the linear pair, but in this case they are just simply two angles with no special relationship to each other.Generally, you need two angles on a single line cut by an intersecting line to have a linear pair. Similarly, you can have a linear pair if two angles on the same line are next to two intersecting lines that are parallel to each other.~ Azaler
