When an equation is said to have no solution, it means that there is no value of x that can make a given equation true.
Sample:
Solve: 11 + 3x โ 7 = 6x + 5 โ 3x
3x + 4 = 3x + 5
If I continue to simplify this equation, 3x will cancel out.
LOOK:
3x + 4 = 3x + 5
3x - 3x + 4 = 5
0 + 4 = 5
4 = 5....Is this a true statement? In other words, does 4 EQUAL 5? No, right?
This equation obviously has no solution since there is no x value that can ever make the equation true.
