Hi,Here is one way to solve this problem:x+3y = 103(3x-y=13) => 9x-3y=39 ---> now we can eliminate the 3y and -3y:x+3y = 109x+37 = 39-------------10x +0 = 49 ==> x = 49/10 ==> x = 4.9Now let's get the y:x+3y = 104.9 + 3y = 10 => 3y = 10 - 4.9 => 3y = 5.1 => y = 5.1/ 3 ==> y = 1.7 ---> so (4.9, 1.7) is the solution. (please check them against the original equations.)Hope it help,Kamel
