Actually, you can divide out the 10 and leave it as root 2 plus 1

This depends on where the second 10 is. If it is where I think it is then yes, for example,              10(√2) + 10 = 10((√2) + 1) Now the other way would not be correct, for example,               10(√(2+10)) ≠10((√2) + 1)                                  = 10((√(2+10))                                  = 10(√12)                                  = 10(√4)(√3)                                  = 10(2)(√3)                                  = 20(√3) The solution depends on whether or not the 10 is inside or outside of the barn-house:  √(I was born in the barn) + (I was't born in the barn) (outside the barn) (√(inside the barn)) (outside the barn)
