i think what you wanted to do was take (-10)^2, yes? keep this in mind, the exponent will only work on the single thing that it is attached to. in this case, it's attached to 10. don't think that the negative sign before the 10 is attached to the 10.
all you would want to do is have 150-10^2, which would be 150-100.
here are some other examples of what I mean by "attached."
(-10)^2 = +100
-5^2 = -25
