to cancel the 1/7 and isolate x, multiply by the reciprocal. in this case it is 7 and u get x=42

1/7x = 6          ---          1/7  = 6/7          x = 6/7So really what you have to do is find the inverse of what you're solving. For example, if, in this case, it's multiplication, you divide. You can check your answer by replacing x with what you got.
