If you are still interested here is how you change from starndard to slope intercept.  Here is an example standard eqaution.  3x +4y = 8   The goal is to follow the rules of math and manipulate the equaiton to have it look like y=mx+b.   In y=mx+b, y is positive and by itself.  Thus when we start with 3x+4y=8 we need to move the 3x to the other side of the equation and the 4 coefficient.  To move the 3x you subtract 3x from both sides.  That would result in 4y=8-3x   Then you need to change a 4y into a y, so you divide by 4 (because 4/4 is 1 thus becoming "1y" or just y)  If we divide the left isde by 4 we need to divide the right side by 4 as well,  (8-3x)/4 becomes  (8/4) - (3/4)x    (8/4) simplifies to 2 and (3/4) stays as -(3/4).  So  our lifet side is now "y" and the left is "2-(3/4)x"  You can rearrange the left side so that x term is first and then you have y= -(3/4)x + 4
