Think of it this way. When you are finding the log of something, you are finding what power the base should be raised to to get the number after the base. Here let me clarify myself by rewriting log2(8)=x.From this equation:the base (the little number after the word log) is 2x would be the exponent.and 8 is the number you are trying to get the base to2 to the x power is 8or 2^x=8So basically you are trying to find the base to the blank power equals the number after the base.So since 2 to the 3rd power is 8.x=3If you still don't understand, say so and I will gladly try to help you.

because you take log2(8)=x and move the 2 to the other side to make 8=2^x, then divide log(8) by log(2) and get your answer
