What is a question is like... y=2(x+3)'Squared'-8? Do I follow bedmas or something?

y = 2(x+3)^2 - 8 What are they asking you to do with it, simplify (put it into standard form)?  In that case,         y = 2(x^2 + 6x + 9) - 8 and         y = 2x^2 + 12x + 18 - 8  and         y = 2x^2 + 6x + 10
