no, circumference is the distance around a circle, the circumference of a circle depends on its radius(r).The formula of a circle with a radius ,say 3cm, will be C=Pi*D(diameter) or C=2*pi*r=2*3.1415*3=18.849 cm. Area of a circle=Pi*r^2 =3.1415*3*3=28.274 square cm. Their units of measure are different. Read your text carefully. Math book are meant to be read too!!!!!:-)

A circle is a 2 dimensional figure, not a polygon, the circumference is the distance around the circle. If your are to have a circular head, the ribbon you use to go around your head will be the circumference.
