Do you have to take the writing section, no you don't, but I would suggest that you do! If you're planning on attending college, specially a 4+ year college, most schools are requiring the writing portion. The writing portion of the test does not affect your overall score on the ACT exam. I hope that answers your question!

i took the PLAN test, like a pre-ACT, i didn't see writing portion on the PLAN test, so i'm not sure. it's better if you ask a counselor
