The key to answering this question correctly is to use the right order of operations. PEMDAS is an acronym that stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subraction. If you do the operations in that order, you'll get it right. So first, do what's inside the paretheses--which is 7 + 8. After that step the expression looks like this:2*15+2/3*5+1Next do the multiplication and division, making the expression look like this:30 + 2/15 + 1Then you do the addition and get the answer:31 and 2/15

Larry, I think the whole top is divided by the whole bottom. Like 2(7+8)+2/3*5+1=2(15)+2/15+1=32/16=2

(7+8)+2 / 3x5+1 Order of Operations: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication & Division (left to right), and Addition & Subtraction (left to right). Assuming you mean, (7+8)+2 divided by 3*5 +1 as a fraction… Parentheses: 7+8= 15 15+2 divided by 3*5 + 1 There are no exponents, so move to multiplication & division: 3*5 = 15 15+2 divided by 15+1 Add to get: 17/16 You can either leave this, change to a mixed number, or convert to a decimal, depending on what your instructions indicate.
