Do you have an equation for a line? Or do you have a graph of a line?If you have an equation--like y = 3x +6--and if it's in slope-intercept form (y = mx +b) then the slope is m. In the equation y = 3x + 6, the slope is 3.If you have a graph, you can find two points on the graph and compute the slope with the rise over run formula.

If you are asked to find the slope and there are no points on the graph, then there probably is an equation that will have the slope as one of the variables.

You will just have to look at the equation, and it is Y2-Y1---------- X2-X1

if there is an equation, put it in y=mx+b form, and m will be the slope.
