how do you determine the direction angle for the vector sum problems? ⚑ Flag

Well it depends. If you have a non-right angle triangle; once you find the magnitudes of the vectors, use sine law to determine the angle between two vectors (one of them being the resultant). Once you do that, you can compare the angle formed with (N,S,E,W) to get its direction. Ex. [50 deg S of W ]

I'm still sort of confused, can you show me how to solve these following problems, that will help me understand better. Also, I am looking for how to find the direction angles on a right triangle for now.  1. A child is playing with a toy car on the floor of a train that is moving eastward. while the train travels 12 meters the child pushes the car 2.6 meters northward on the floor of a train. What is the resulting displacement of the car?  2. In an airplane that goes 620 miles per hour, the pilot wants to fly directly north when the wind is blowing at 100 miles per hour from the east. In what direction must he head the airplane? I would appreciate if you could show me how to do these step by step, thank you!
