First distibute the 7 to 5x and -7 then you get 2x+35x-49=173 combine like terms and add 49 37x=222 divide by 37 x=6

7*5x then 7*-7 looks like this 2x+35x-49=173... add 49 to both sides.... 2x+35x=222... then add 2x and 35x to get 37x... then divide by 37 to both sides....so 37 divided by 222... x=6
