I added the two equations and got -y = 21, which means y must equal -21. Then I plugged it into the first equation (because it's sort of simpler, at least I think) and I got 4x - 42 = 2. After adding 42 to both sides, I got 4x = 44. Dividing both sides by 4, I got x = 11. So, my solution is y = -21 and x = 11.
