Begin by setting one of the equations equal to one of the variables, so in this instance I would take the second equation and set it equal to y subtracting 4x from both sidesy= -4x+24Then plug in -4x+24 for y in the other equation:2x-3y= -22x-3(-4x+24)= -22x+12x-36= -2solve for x2x+12x-36= -214x-36= -214x=34x=17/7now plug in your answer for x into the equation set for yy= -4x+24x=17/7y= -4(17/7)+24y= -68/7+24y= 100/7soy=100/7x=17/7not very pretty answers, but they are correct none the less
