first distribute the - sign to the parenthesis to get 3x-2x-1=4x-6 your new equation after combining the like terms on the left side would be x-1=4x-6 subtract the 4x and add the 1 so you can get all the x's on one side and the numbers on the other -3x=-5 divide by negative 3 to find x x=5/3
