Start by distributing the -3 over the (9x+1). You will then have -3x+5=-27x-3. Then get your x's on the same side. Add 27x to both sides, this gives you 24x+5=-3. Then subtract five from both sides, and this gives you 24x=-8. Divide both sides by twenty four, and you'll get x=-1/3. I haven't checked my work, so I could be wrong. Hope this helps!

-3x+5 = -3(9x+1)-3x+5 = -27x-3-3x+27x = -3-524x = -8x = -8/24 x = -1/3
