Negative coeffiecient

I didn't think you could have negative coefficients in standard form? Shouldn't both sides of the equation be multiplied by negative one to remove the negative two like this? -1(-2x+y)=-1(-4) to make 2x-y=4?

In your example, Standard Form is: Ax + By = C A is nonnegative. If A is zero, then B must me nonnegative. Hope that helps!
