If atoms "like" to have either half filled or full shells then why do as many as 6 elements have s1 configurations in the 2nd transition series? Only two of these have half or completely filled shells. Could it be that the explanation given in the video is ad hoc, meaning it happens to work for Cr and Cu but is not generalizable?
