The parabola does not touch the x axis because the parabola either opens up above the x-axis or it opens downward below the x-axis. This scenario only produces two imaginary roots. You can not find these graphically.2. The vertex of the parabola touches the x-axis at a single point. For example, y=(x-1)^2 has a zero at x = 1. This is called a double root.3. The parabola crossed the x-axis at two separate points. For example, y=(x-1)(x-2) has two roots at x=1 and x=2.If you can not easily factor a quadratic, then graphical solutions can make your job easier than solving the quadratic formula.
