What is the best way to tell which way the electrons are flowing in a voltaic cell (ie. to identify or which half-cell contains the reduction or the oxidation reaction)?

in voltaic cells, electrons always flow from anode to cathode. to identify which half-cell contains oxidation or reduction, look up each elements standard reduction value: a more negative reduction value indicates it is as at the anode, and a more positive one indicates it is at the cathode
