New way to find vertex ok if I have y = x^2+6x+8 so 9+y = (x^2+6x+9) + 8 we subtract 8 so we have 9-8+y = (x+3)^2  we have (1+y) = (x+3)^2 right and 1+y=0 y is equal to -1 and x is x+3= 0 x is -3 :)
