The answer should be in terms of the algebraic equation itself rather than in terms of economics.  I think that the answer has something to do with the domain of the equation itself, but i'm not exactly certain.  Just need to completely understand this question step by step.

Crystal -Since x can not be less than 5 (otherwise the square root becomes negative), the number 5 represents the minimum number of items that can be sold.You are correct, the domain for this function is x ≥ 5And, since x is in 1000s of units sold, the domain is really equal to or greater than 5000 units.Hope that helps
