Howdy..The prokaryotic cell has a strong resemblance to the mitochondria, did evolution have part in this? Also, in the eukaryotic cell we use ATP as a source of energy,what's used in the prokaryotic?

Many scientists thing that ancient eukaryotic cells were formed with prokaryotes.  Strong evidence behind this is that mitochondria have their own DNA.  2nd question... idk...
