First, consider what number satisfies the requirements of the riddle , then take a look back at the math problem.x+y= -3x*y= 2The set (-1,-2) fit the data, and looking at the graph, it looks like the only solution that does.So, to get back to the math question, you need a quadratic with zeros @ -1 and -2, I'm not sure why they say "the" it seems like quite a few might do it, but let's look at probably the fastest,(x+1)(x+2)=x^2+3x+2

If you think of FOILing (x-a)(x-b), you get x^2-bx-ax+ab = x^2-(b+a)x+abnotice that a and b our zeros. so since the sum is -3 , (b+a) = -3 and since the product is 2 then ab = 2The quadratic polynomial must be x^2-(-3)x+2 = x^2+3x+2
