Axis Transportation Service charges $12 initially plus $2.50 per mile for every mile traveled. Tri-City Transportation Service charges $16 initially plus $2.00 per mile for every mile traveled.

Write an equation in two variables (x & y) that illustrates the costs for using Axis Transportation Service. (Use the form y = mx + b)

Write an equation in two variables (x & y) that illustrates the costs for using Tri-City Transportation Service. (Use the form y = mx + b)

If the trip is 2 miles, how much does each one charge? If the trip is 4 miles, how much does each one charge? Show your work.

At a certain mileage both services will be charging the same rate. Use your equations to find that mileage and then explain what is happening “graphically” where the services are charging that same rate? Show your work.

Vera -Read the words carefully and put them into equations.Axis: y = 2.5x + 12Tri-City: y = 2x + 16x represents the number of milesy represents the total cost of the tripNow just plug in x = 2 or x = 4 into each equation to learn how much each company chargesThe two companies will charge the same amount at a certain mileage.  To find out what that mileage is, simply set each equation equal to each other and then solve for x.Hope that helps
