The proof of the quadratic formula is one of the first algebraic proofs that you'll be exposed to. Once you have learned how to complete the square, you can apply it to a general form quadratic equation (that is, ax^2 +bx + c = 0). If done correctly, your solutions for x will be the quadratic formula.
